We’re back for another Helicarrier edition on MMC to review an exclusive pack from Toys R Us wave 18. This time around we have Winter Soldier Agent of SHIELD paired with a Hydra Elite agent. Also releasing this week in US theatres is the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie; it is a spectacular movie so I hope everyone checks it out. Now on to the minimate review…
Packaging
The box is the expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.
The Figures
Winter Soldier Agent of SHIELD
As the brainwashed USSR assassin the Winter Soldier was a deadly foe but Captain America was able to bring him back from the dark side and later became an agent of SHIELD. What’s nice about how they release certain minimate waves is there is a complimenting evil version in the LCS wave 54.
Since he’s back on the good side now, he has a less disheveled hairpiece. There are nice details on his face and mask. On his base torso his outfit is similar to the one he wore back in the old days as Capt’s sidekick Bucky. Even though the details are made on a dark base they still stand out well with clean lines. He has the left metallic arm but instead of his old red star is a white on blue circle star.
I like the torso strap with gun holster; it’s the same as the SHIELD agents but with brown paint apps. He also comes with a brown belt cover and leg holster. And as expected he comes loaded with weapons; a pistol, handgun and sniper rifle. A standard clear base stand is also included.
In conclusion, this figure does the character justice.

Hydra Elite
Elite is right; in the comics the elite soldiers help protect high ranking HYDRA officers and installations. Minimate-wise this is a higher ranking version of the previously released HYDRA agent army builder.
The new sculpted headcover mask is a huge improvement (I’m not a big fan of the basic slip cover masks). Love the bulging red eye-pieces and wrinkles in the face. Like the old version you have multiple looks with this one figure. Take off his mask and cape and you have a basic HYDRA agent. The colors are bright and all the detail lines stand out well too.
His cape is one of the swooping ones that fit on his shoulder pegs and goes in waves in the back; we’ve seen many a Thor cape like this before. His arms have the sculpted ruffle on his shoulders. His waistpiece has nice detail for his belt and has holster for his gun along with a peg to hold his sword.
For accessories he comes with a large Hydra rifle, sword and handgun. Also included is a clear base stand. The multiple layers make for great opportunities to mix and match to build out your ranks of your HYDRA army.
I honestly thought the last HYDRA army builder was a great figure; this one is even better!
