October is such an exciting month: the change of seasons, fall harvest, state fairs, and all the spooky fun surrounding Halloween. So what better month to have some more Universal Monsters set reviews! This Bride of Frankenstein and Villager set was released in last year’s wave 2 exclusive to TRU. So grab your torches/pitchforks and read on … if you dare!
Packaging
The packaging is the blister card pack showcasing the figures and accessories. The pack has an insert with the Universal Monster’s logo . The back shows the other figures available in the series with short bio of each of the two characters included. The TRU exclusive sticker is on the front.
The Figures
The Bride of Frankenstein
Who would have thought a simple villager could be such a fun minimate? I know I have a picture of a couple of these guys chasing the Bride, but in the movie they actually were chasing Frankenstein’s Monster. Grrrr Fire Bad!
You got to love that hat, simple and just screams old-world “Get yer pitchforks, we got a monster to chase”. Ok, not really but it still looks pretty good. He has a very detailed expression on his face with gritted teeth and unshaven scruff of a beard.
The villager has a new sculpted brown work apron that ties in the back (nice touch of detail). Underneath you have your basic open collar shirt with brown khakis. He’s showing off a little bit of chest hair (Wolverine, is that you?). The paint apps are well done throughout the figure.
What really makes this figure fun is the accessories. There’s a wonderfully done torch with little details on the wood. [GRRR, FIRE!] He also comes with a pitchfork for simple yard work or your occasional monster chasing. The villager is also another great character for customization. Since he’s a generic character you can mix and match heads/hair/etc to create a little army of villagers.
So all in all this is another great figure and probably one of the top Universal Monsters sets to add to your collection.
