Two new characters to the Marvel vs Capcom series make their appearance in another TRU exclusive MvC3 set. So which character has the skills to put victory out of reach of his opponent … read on to find out.

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The top shows a cool piece of art of Wolverine and Ryu up close in battle. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Taskmaster

Mercenary and master mimic, Taskmaster has been both villain and antihero. This is his second time around in minimate form and his design has been nicely updated since his last version.

Taskmaster’s cape and hood is a reuse of Moon Knight’s with a darker cream color on the outside and bright orange on the inside of the cape. This hood/cape looks really good and works well on normal size figures (not so much on small figures; poor Mole Man). Any balancing issues are really helped out by the included clear base stand.

He has good looking details for his skeletal face. The torso detail is also well done, the colors are bright and the lines are crisp. The rest of his body has the same blue/white/orange style. The buccaneer boots and cuffs work well too; however for characters that have the shield pegs on the cuff it would be nice to have an extra non-pegged cuff. Taskmaster also has a separate belt piece that for the size has a really good amount of detail, even the little T on the buckle.

He also comes fully loaded with accessories, not as many as last time but still a lot: shield, sword, bow and arrow. The bow is the same as before (except brown) but the sword and arrow are different. His shield has a different blue/yellow/white paint app. It may seem a bit odd with the yellow T instead of orange as it appears in the comics but in the MvC3 game the color is more yellow (I made sure to play research it for a few hours just to make sure I have accurate info for you guys).

Taskmaster is also a wealth of parts for customizing. Sword, bow, shield, great cape, cool belt, boots, gloves and more are always welcome when creating other characters.

In conclusion this is a great update to a cool looking character.

Nathan Spencer

Now this is old school! I remember playing Bionic Commando in the arcade and on my original NES.  The man may have no jumping skills but he has one hell of an arm. This Nathan’s look is based off the 2009 Bionic Commando game instead of the original version, but it’s still nice to see classic gaming characters some back around for new generations to enjoy.

Nathan original trademark red hair was changed to the brown dreadlocks that we see on this figure. It’s a nice new hairpiece.  Nice details for his face too with a very determined look on it, even a bit of stubble showing too.

We’ll get to his bionic arm in a moment; the rest of his outfit is well done. Good paint apps, especially for the digital camo pants. Nice details on his torso where you can see the start of his bionic arm. I’m not sure if we’ve seen that belt piece before with the suspenders hanging to the side but it’s a cool look and I’m sure will be another good piece for customizing. Nathan’s boots are pretty massive but they do help with balance due to his arm.

Speaking of his arm, that is the main draw of this character. Instead of just a slipover glove, they gave us an entirely new sculpted AND jointed arm. This thing is great; so much detail and a great metallic color.

Nathan comes with a dust base accessory. It’s not as large as Haggar’s dust cloud but it still gives you that dash look.

Overall this is a good figure, well done sculpt on his arm and a welcome addition to the collection.
