Good timing with this pairing of characters. The Superior Spider-Man series appears to be going strong and Electro is primed for a bump in popularity with the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man movie.
Packaging
The box is the expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.
The Figures
Superior Spider-Man
So Peter Parker and Doc Ock pull a Freaky Friday and swap minds; yep, it’s as messed up as it sounds. Since there’s a new Spider that means new costume.
I’m very very very thankful that instead of a slipcover mask we get a standard minimate head with Spidey’s mask. The corresponding LCS wave also has a Superior Spider-Man figure but the costume and eyes are different. I like the wider eyes of the LCS version a bit better. They’ve included a spare Peter Parker head with a wicked grin on his face. I do like the hairpiece with the attached earpiece headset (“This is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man speaking, please hold..”).
The rest of his costume had a darker vibe. His spider logo reminds me of Ben Reilly’s outfit. The red and black colors with the grey muscle highlights work well and really stand out. I especially like the bit of red on his hands and feet. It’s a simple touch but with so many different costumes over the years it’s the little things that stand out.
Also included is a clear base stand and the now familiar Spidey webline.
Minimate-wise he’s not superior to other versions but he does stand out well.

Ultimate Electro
The Ultimate version of Electro has a way different origin story; rather than just being struck by lightning and being able to control electricity this version was bioengineered. He reminds me of the blue electric Gremlin from Gremlins 2.
The figure itself is a basic translucent cool blue blank. It’s a great color and matches very well to the comics. The dark blue and white detail lines on his face, torso (front and back), arms and legs are very sharp and easy to see. He has a wonderfully wicked smile on his face.
The accessories make the minimate! Great reuse of parts by including two electric energy whips (same ones used for Whiplash from IM2 sets), two electricity blasts and what was a flame base but done in blue to give it an electric feel (which it would also make a great water splash base too). Also included is a clear base stand.
I am a fan of translucent figures, especially ones with good details and great accessories.
