Two characters known for a bit of undercover work do battle in this LCS wave 2 release for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Which one will infiltrate their way to the next round??

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The top shows a cool piece of art of Wolverine and Ryu up close in battle.

The Figures

Super Skrull

Kl’rt, a warrior from the Skrull Empire, was artificially augmented and given the combined abilities of the Fantastic Four to become the Super Skrull. He’s a new addition to the Marvel vs Capcom series and a lot of fun to play as in the game.

This is the second minimate release for Super Skrull and they did a great job on updating him. The Skrulls designs are all pretty similar; they have the same headpiece with pointy green ears and same pointed torso shoulder cover. This time Super Skrull has a deeper purple and black color to his uniform with much more detail on his torso. He has calmer expression with some fiery eyes and nice facial details (great job on his chin).

What really set this version out from the crowd is all the different parts that he comes with. Besides his regular arms and legs he has an extra twisted base, extra extended arm with hammer fist, translucent fire arm-piece along with fireball, and Thing arm-piece. The base has been released before for Mr Fantastic but this version starts as clear plastic at the bottom to his purple/black uniform at the belt.  I really like the phasing look that it has. The extended arm is fantastic too, it appears that it is jointed but in fact is all one piece. The translucent fire arm-pieces are same ones we’ve seen for Dark Phoenix but positioned the other way so Super Skrull’s nicely detailed Thing arm connects to it.  A character like this has so many possibilities and ways that you can display him. You could even mix and match pieces from other characters for him to impersonate.

In conclusion, Super Skrull is a highly recommended figure. Not only does he look great but with so much included, he’s a great addition to everyone’s collection.

Crimson Viper

C. Viper is a double double agent that first appeared in Street Fighter IV and is also making her debut along with Super Skrull in the MvC series. Her personality and fighting style is as unique as her outfit.

They did a great job recreating her pink hair with long braided ponytail, unfortunately on mine there’s some of the color scraped off the front. She has sharp facial details with cool yellow shades. Ample details on her torso too, down to her tie stuffed between her chest. The rest of her arms/legs are navy blue for her suit.

I like the white details on her hands to give the black driver’s glove look. I’m not really sure what’s going on with her feet though. In the game she has on heels and I would have expected her to have shoes similar to Tuco from “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” box set. Instead her feet have purple front half with reddish/brown back half.

For accessories, although I’m not sure if it’s meant for her, she can use the fireball included in the pack. She does have some pyrotechnic moves in the game along with a Thunder Knuckle (but would expect that to be more electric looking). While not a lot of items for customizers, she does have good base pieces and an interesting hairpiece to work with.

C. Viper is a good addition to the MvC3 minimate series.
