The Figures
Sentinel
To say that they nailed the design on this character is an understatement. Sentinel has a massive amount of sculpted pieces and he looks incredible. From the pictures of the prototype we saw the base colors but the final released version adds that metallic touch to the blue and purple for great results.
His head has a separate blue cover over a well detailed robotic face. You’ll notice he actually has a nose, a facial feature that usually left out on minimates. Sentinel has this huge sculpted torso cover with his piston shaped shoulders built into it. Due to the size of it, it does limit your range of motion but a fair trade off for design accuracy. Underneath he has a blank purple torso but also comes with a torso riser for height.
The arms and legs are that cool metallic blue color. What’s really nice is the legs are sculpted similar to what we’ve seen on some of the Iron Man figures to give it that robotic look. Sentinel also has new massive boots and gantlets. The first thing I think of seeing those hands, especially since I’m a big Hellboy fan, is what a great start they would make for the right hand of doom!
This set comes with a clear base just like the previous wave did but the disc is just a bit smaller than before (still awesome that they include these). Other than that, there are no accessories for Sentinel.
In conclusion, I love this figure. Initially I was concerned they would be able to match its unique design but they really hit this out of the park!

First Appearance Ryu
We’ve seen Ryu in minimate form before back when we had the Street Fighter II/Darkstalker series. This version is as he first appeared in the original Street Fighter game, hence First Appearance.
I can’t say that this is the best look for him but as far as matching how he looks in the original game it is a good match. He has the fuller red mop of hair with white bandana. The paint apps are not as good as we’ve seen on the other figures as the white has bleed a bit into his red hair. Nice details for the face but his expression looks more like he’s in an intense staring match instead of a brawl.
He has a separate torso cover for his white uwagi (top part of the traditional martial arts keikogi, or training uniform). While the cover does make him appear bulky, you can remove it so that he is bare-chested since they added torso detail. And since there are no sleeves the rest of his arms are flesh colored and match his torso. His red gloves are all one piece and have nice pad details on top of his hands. The rest of his uniform consists of his white pants and red shoes.
His Hadōken energy blast is the same sculpt as released before but nicely complimented with a clear stand that fits into a new hole in the blast. This really helps so that Ryu doesn’t fall over when you display him. This is a really good modification and anyone with older energy blasts should consider getting a drill and some extra clear stands so they can be displayed the same way. Color-wise the new blasts are pretty much the same translucent blue, just slightly cloudier.
Honestly I’m not really a fan of this look on him but if you’ve wanted a first appearance version then this is for you.
