Cap with some new duds for a secret mission and a deadly enemy make up this TRU exclusive box set. So who’s going to come out on top, read on to find out.

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Secret War Captain America

Captain America and some fellow super heroes team up to take on some trouble in Latveria. So for this special mission Cap needs something stealthier than the ol’ red, white and blue.

Same mask that we’ve seen before with the dark navy colors. Steve has a great intense expression on his face; they’ve even included an extra blonde hairpiece for him too.  Similar design to his classic outfit but with a dark navy base color and red/white highlights. Even though the colors are darker the details still stand out well. I especially like the flag logo on his left shoulder.

The buccaneer boots and cuffs we’ve seen before. One cuff has a peg for his shield; it would have been nice to have an extra one without a peg. Love the silver belt piece and great use of the shoulder harness. Overall you have one figure but multiple looks.

Cap comes with his trusty shield as always. There are lots of parts for customizing too. And even though you may see it in my pictures the clear base stand does not come with this set (starts showing up in next TRU wave).

So in conclusion it’s not the usual Captain America that you’re used to getting but he looks good in this alternate costume.

Crossbones

Crossbones is one of Captain America’s most deadly enemies. Trained by another super villain seen in minimate form, Taskmaster, Crossbones usually carries out Red Skull’s orders. He’s perhaps best known for his part in Captain America’s assassination.

Simple black and white for his mask but the execution and details are perfect. The base figure itself it pretty simple too; dark camo pants, black shirt with white crossed bones, skin tone arms and black gloves. But it’s the extras that are awesome. He has a large torso cover with detailed bullet shells wrapped around and belt with knife sheath. There’s also an alternate smaller cover with tons of sculpted pockets all around. He also has a brown belt piece and a gun holster to tie it all together. So again we have one figure that has several possibilities for display.

And as you would expect he comes with an arsenal of accessories. Included are a handgun that fits in the holster, knife and rifle. Since there’s so much included for one figure you get tons of extras for customizing.

Crossbones is definitely one of the best if not the best minimated villain for Captain America that we’ve had.
