Here we have another pack from the third wave of The Walking Dead minimates. This pack is both in the TRU and LCS waves. So let’s see how it stacks up.

The Figures
Riot Gear Rick
Rick helps lead the group of survivors to a new “safe” home at a prison. But safe is a relative term in The Walking Dead. The figure reuses a lot of good pieces for his gear and some new pieces as well.
His helmet looks similar to the MAX SWAT armor but it is a new sculpt. I really like the design of this one, especially the large clear visor. It also flips up and holds it’s up position well too. Underneath you can see Rick’s familiar face; he does have a new expression this time. Included is the same hairpiece from the Amazon box set.
The torso cover is a repaint from Flash Thompson Venom and underneath you have a simple button down black shirt. He’s equipped with repainted black belt with holster, large SWAT gloves, thigh armor and boots. The boots tend to be a bit of a letdown as they fall off easily and the peg holes on the bottom are way too shallow.
He comes with a nice group of your standard zombie apocalypse equipment: gun, hand axe and nightstick. Each figure in this set comes with a clear base stand; but good luck getting it to work for with those boots. Figures like this with layers of accessories always make for good custom fodder.
Overall a good figure, some issues with the boots bring down the score slightly but still worth adding to your team.
I am impressed by how this minimate line keeps releasing really good zombies; each one more unique than the last. They could have gone the easy route and just had generic zombies with very little variation but instead each one has lots of character. Bravo DST, Bravo!
He has a highly detailed rotting zombie face. I really like how the bloody jaw trickles down to his collar. Speaking of, it’s cool to see how Rick’s light blue office uniform from wave 1 has evolved to this tattered mess on a decaying walking corpse. His left arm is a sculpted wonderfully gross mess with his arm half off and bone showing through but there’s still the gold shield on his shoulder; love it! He does come with a spare arm just in case he needs another hand (thank you, I’m here all week, don’t forget to tip your waitress). There is a nice, amazingly clean of blood, belt with holster and torn pants with cowboy boot feet to round out his outfit.
They did include a clear base stand but can’t really use it with the cowboy boots. This set has a good mix of zombie parts for mixing and matching to create your own figures.
The guard zombie proudly continues the tradition of high scoring zombie figures. Grrr, argghh!
MMC Score – 9 out of 10
