In honor of the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie let’s take a look back at one of the more sought after releases from the last Captain America movie. And as an added bonus we’ll do this review on a helicarrier (*toy helicarrier).
Packaging
The Minimate boxes are also the format as the previous retail single box releases. A slender carton with a window cut out that displays the Minimate within. The sides of the boxes show the ‘mates available in this release. The back of the box has a list of all the available figures. A red mark indicates which figure is in the box. Big thanks to pk13 for helping me out with this figure!
The Figure
Red Skull in Hydra Uniform
Red Skull in all his Hydra glory! The only problem is he didn’t dress like this in the movie; which is a shame because it’s a cool outfit.
No slip on mask here, just the regular base red head with thankfully no head hole. I love the expression on his face; super soldier staring contest, go! …………………. uggg, he wins. He has a nice collar that fits over the head peg and doesn’t make the outfit look awkward at all. Great paint job and details all around, especially like the Hydra logo on his arm. He also has a skirt piece to extend his uniform that has good details on the belt buckle.
For an accessory he comes with his German gun. And even though this is the movie version, a simple headswap with previously released comic version of Red Skull and the outfit still works!
In conclusion this is a fairly simple but excellently executed minimate.
