Toys R Us’s support of Minimates included getting the LCS wave of Minimates from May 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie, and also incorporated a couple of hard-to-find exclusives. This set features yet another Wolverine, and a secondary character.

Packaging

The packaging for the exclusives remains the same as wave 26, and also includes the silver TRU foil.

The back of the box has wave 26 pictured, with no sign of the exclusives. The bio boxes are still present, hinting at plot developments in the film without giving too much away.

The Figures

Origins Wolverine

Wolverine fatigue is setting in. I can’t even remember when this outfit was in the movie. It was over a year ago I saw it! Without too many spoilers, I keep thinking it’s from the time he was a lumberjack in Canada, but that’s what the Logan Minimate was supposed to represent. Hmmm. Nevermind, it’s the 5th Wolverine Minimate taken from the film, so I’m sure he’s not rocking a key look. That well must be dry and dusty about now.

The facial detailing shows a much calmer side to Wolverine. His beard and sideburns are trimmed nicely, and his hair is not sticking up all over the place. He’s cleaned up his act. Not sure where the hairpiece is actually from, at first I thought it was the Logan hairpiece but it’s different to that one.

The shirt is actually very detailed. The lines go all the way round, including the back and sides, and the arms also have them. It’s good work. His white shirt peeks out, but strangely it’s not quite the same as the “Weapon X” Wolverine exclusive also in this TRU wave, as the detailing lines are thicker. The rolled-up sleeves complement the look. He also has the gold belt buckle as seen on several of the Wolverine Minimates.

Origins Wolverine comes with Adamantium claws. Like all the Wolverines in this series, he also comes with a set of unclawed spare hands.

In conclusion, it’s not a memorable figure, but it’s been well executed. Sometimes detail gets scrimped on but that hasn’t happened here. Totally non-essential but as a figure he’s a good example of a Wolverine, just not near the level of some of the others.

Agent Zero

David North, aka Agent Zero, is a sharpshooter who appears in the film in a couple of sequences. Starting out in the flashback to a special ops mission as part of that team, but later on he is a villain (when seen in this outfit), trying to take Wolverine down.

Agent Zero’s Asian features are captured well here, suiting the minimal approach given. I’m sure the hairpiece is a re-use but can’t immediately place it.

Like Sabretooth, Agent Zero has a Matrix-y vibe to him, with his black outfit and long coat, along with a white shirt and tie. Very Neo, all he needs are some sunglasses. I can’t place the coat piece either, but again I doubt that an exclusive would get a unique piece.

Being known for his gunplay, Agent Zero gets 2 pistols to use. I would have liked to see a rifle of some sort included too but that’s me being picky.

In conclusion, it’s another villain from the film, and like a lot of the Minimates in this series, Agent Zero suffers slightly for being a bit workmanlike. Not a bad Minimate – it’s always nice to get more villains – but really nothing to get excited about.
