Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!
Great Scott! This is my first and probably last Back to the Future set review; unless I can find a time machine to go back in time to pick up some other sets when they were released. Well, I could always buy them online but the time machine route would be so much more fun!
Packaging
Packaging is similar to the vehicle sets previously released with the large blister card. The figure and car are easy to see and held in place by the usual plastic tray with twist ties. The large BttF Part II logo is at the top with the control art of Doc Brown and the DeLorean on the forefront of the plastic tray. The back of the packaging has a little write-up about the movie along with a picture of the set. The silver TRU exclusive sticker is on the front.
The entire set includes the car, a sheet of stickers with placement instructions and minimate figure.
The Figure
Doc Brown
Back to the Future (and its sequels) is one of those movies that everyone just needs to see at least once in their life. In the movies Emmett Brown is the creator of the DeLorean time machine and friend of Marty McFly. Christopher Lloyd did a wonderful acting job bringing him to life and I’ve always loved his wild expressions as this nutty but lovable inventor.
Similar to some of the Silence of the Lambs figures, Doc Brown has a headpiece with sculpted hair on it. Honestly I’m not sure why they went with this instead of normal head with hairpiece. It looks ok except for the two holes on the sides of his face; those are just creepy for some reason to me. His hair looks good and great details for his expressive face, especially like the raised eyebrow.
The rest of his outfit is pretty simple. He’s wearing a yellow long sleeve shirt with brown khakis. I especially like the rolled up sleeve look with the small yellow cuffs. I just can’t remember when he wore this outfit in the movies. The only time I can think of is at the beginning of Part III when they are at the drive-in theatre.
No accessories for Doc, the mini-time-machine will have to suffice. He is a good figure for customs though; a simple headswap and you have anyone you like in business casual attire.
In conclusion not a bad figure, the holes still creep me out a bit but he’s easily recognizable as Doc Brown.

The Vehicle
Mini-Time Machine
The DeLorean DMC-12, easily one of the most famous cars of all time. Modified by Doc Brown for time travel and this version has the hover conversion complete with Mr Fusion Home Energy Reactor.
The only setup out of the box is the placement of the stickers. Some of the stickers, especially some of the dash gages are really small so get some tweezers or someone with small fingers to give you a hand if needed.
Love the design of this car and it looks really good in mini-version. Love the translucent blue plastic for the light strips on the front bumper and around the back. Lots of details everywhere, you got Mr Fusion in the back along with the flux capacitor inside.
The wheels don’t flip up but there are little wheels underneath that allow the car to roll on a surface. The doors easily open up but are sturdy enough you don’t have to worry about them snapping off. Great paint job especially matching the silver color from the actual car.
Overall an impressive vehicle set; it’s well made, looks great and is a lot of fun to play with too.
