HIMTS00

Back for more metal mayhem are two more Stark figures in this TRU exclusive set. Even with so many new armors shown in the new movie, this Heartbreaker version has been promoted a good bit. So how does it measure up to the rest; read on to find out…

Packaging

HIMTS01

The box is the expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. On top is a picture of Iron Man with the Avengers Initiative logo in the middle. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.  The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Heartbreaker Iron Man

HIMTS05

The Heartbreaker armor is designed for artillery and is actually the Mark 17 version of armor. Tony does spend some time in this suit in the movie.

HIMTS07 HIMTS08

He has a great looking helmet, I really like the silver straps around the top. Underneath is Tony’s face. At first I thought all the Tony heads underneath the armors were the same, they’re not. They’re close but there is a slight difference in each expression, mainly with the mouth. Included is an extra hairpiece, those I believe are all the same in each pack.

HIMTS06

The torso cover on this figure just adds to the reason why I like the shorter, slimmer ones used for the Mark 42. Heavier duty armors like this Heartbreaker version should look bulkier next to smaller (like the Mark 42) armors. This cover is very well done, tons of details and sharp paint apps. I love the bulked up straps for the reactor in the middle. Also instead of extending the torso past his waist, they’ve added a waist cover that keeps the bulk look but also allows movement at the hips (= no loss of articulation). His legs and shoulders are sculpted at the top and he has excellent gantlets and boots (my favorite sculpt of this wave’s armors).

HIMTS09 HIMTS10

Underneath the armor I have to admit I’m at a loss. I did not expect it to be only a blank red torso. I figured under the hood we would get the same superb underarmor from the Mark 42. Alas, nada. Perhaps I’m expecting too much and have been spoiled from all the figures with multiple layers of detail. For me having that detail underneath equals a perfect 10 score; without, it’s close but no cigar.

HIMTS11

Included in this entire wave are clear base stands for each figure. For customizing definitely grab that red blank torso to use for other figures. I would even suggest to grab an extra Mark 42 pack to use that underarmor for this figure.

So so so so so close to perfection.

Tony Stark

HIMTS12

Technically this is like the third Tony I’ve reviewed so far (with two more to go in another pack). But this figure is considered Stark proper instead of Iron Man with Tony inside. This look is from a part in the movie when he’s working on the new Mark 42 armor; funny and badass all rolled into one.

Same hairpiece we’ve seen already… and will see again. More details on his face to include his digital eyepiece headset which looks really cool. His body has simple but sharp details for his gore-tex-like under underarmor. And not to harp on it but even this torso block would have been great under the Heartbreaker cover; heck I would even have taken just a few of the detail lines along with arc reactor.

HIMTS16 HIMTS17

But I digress, back to Tony. He comes with the same gauntlets and boots from the Mark 42 (TRU yellow & red). Included is a spare set of hands and feet. Be sure to take notice of the pegs; they’ve improved with ridges on the peg. The hands and feet fit snug and hold in place so much better without dropping out. Especially holding items in the hands; you can hold much heavier things with the arm hanging directly down. This is a wonderful improvement and hope to see it continue in future figures.

A clear base stand is also included for Stark. And this makes for a great figure for part swaps and extra pieces for customizing.

HIMTS18 HIMTS19

In my opinion this is the best Tony Stark proper figure we’ve had yet.
