Hopefully more Battle Beasts minimate figures are in our future. Be sure to check out the discussion on the forum and preorder your sets from Luke’s Toy Store. This week we’re looking back at a set from the first LCS wave.
Packaging
The packaging is the blister card pack showcasing the figures and accessories. And the top of the card has the large Battle Beasts logo with several of the characters from the comics. The pack has an insert with the Minimates logo along with headshots of each of the characters on either side. The back shows all the figures in this wave along with short bio of each of the two characters included.
The Figures
Gruntos
This is pretty much the same figure I reviewed from the TRU wave. The main change would be the paint colors. This version has a lighter colored fur with the armored pieces in a dull grey as opposed to metallic. He’s still the same great figure with same great accessories (done in grey). The one change that detracts a point from this figure is his claws; I wish they would have kept the green (or at least separate color) details.
Overall still a great figure and solid addition to the line.
Tate is Bliss’s younger brother. He also helps in the fight to keep the Praxis of Hope out of the wrong hands or claws or paws or hoof …
Bliss was quite a surprisingly good minimate and Tate is not too shabby either. He has a nicely sculpted skull cap; believe it or not we’ve actually seen that cap before on the Punisher: War Zone mob thug. Included is a spare regular black hairpiece. His face is nicely detailed and especially like the cool blue eyes.
Tate has an oversized coat torso cover in a tan color (same one from ASM Peter Parker) with a grey backpack that can attach on his shoulder. I was able to easily detach and reattach it from his coat. Underneath he has a striped shirt with stripes that go all the way around the torso block; very nice! Included is a spare set of arms with the same stripes. Another point of interest is his sneakers, love the lines on the side.
For accessories he also comes with a gold and yellow gauntlet, for the left hand, called the dread weapon. And like his sister there’s a translucent energy flame, this time in yellow, which attaches to the gauntlet. Make sure to use the included clear base stand for balancing. Tate also comes with a black minimate-sized skateboard. It’s a nice addition but be careful not to lose those wheels. He makes another great figure for custom fodder with all the extras along with being a good base for generic human figures.
In conclusion another solid human figure.
MMC Score – 8 out of 10
