The design of the packaging puts the focus squarely on Frosted Iceman, but cheats slightly by positioning him standing on top of the ice blast to give the impression that he comes with some kind of ice-sled, which would have been a great accessory. The packaging features the now-standard Marvel Universe logo but interestingly, much like wave 10’s chase, there is no “VARIANT ENCLOSED” banner on the corner of the box front. Apparently this was simply missed off these last two chases, and should we ever see waves 12 and 13, the Variant banner should be reinstated.

The figures are packed in a bubble tray, and have no twist-ties holding them in. Instead, a second clear tray piece fits over the top and then locks in, meaning that these figures are held in well and can be seen from each side.

The back of the packaging is new and only shows waves 10 and 11.

Each set in wave 11 also has a two-sided poster, featuring all of the Marvel Minimates released so far, excluding wave 10 & 11 but including the SDCC Dark Phoenix/Cyclops exclusive. Check one of the wave 10 reviews for pics.

Here we have a different version of Iceman. The regular release used translucent parts to mimic the look of the ice, whereas on this figure, the translucent effect has a white frosting over it, hence the name.

As such, this is pretty much just a retread of the regular figure, but where that figure suffered slightly from the availability of other clear figures in the Minimate lines, this one looks unique. The effect is really nice, giving a slight impression of transparency without it ever really being so. The detailing is exactly the same as on the original, meaning the face is still angry, the muscular detailing on the torso is still good, and the lack of any detailing on the back is still somewhat of a letdown. The only change is that on this frosted version, there is no “X” logo on the pelvis piece.

As mentioned above, Frosted Iceman comes with a white-coloured version of the Human Torch’s flame blast accessory. It looks good in off-white, and despite being used previously as an accessory of someone whose powers are the opposite of Iceman, it doesn’t look like a flame anymore and works quite well for the character.

Overall, I think this version of Iceman is actually better than the regular release. It’s trying to do something slightly different than the usual “clear” format and that makes this figure stand out.
