Danger Room Wolverine
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Spidey and Wolverine are the bread & butter of the Marvel line; it’s not going to change and it’s not always a bad thing (who can tell me they’re not hyped for the Brood infected Wolverine?!). We’re going to see multiple variations of these characters; heck, 5 out of the first 10 regular TRU minimates waves have had a Wolverine in it. So when does Wolvie-fatigue set in for collectors? Well when we have our second shirtless torn pants variant, I’d say the time is nigh.
Battle Damaged Wolverine and Danger Room Wolverine are basically the same minimate. While it’s nice for those that missed out on the Uncanny X-Men box set to get a similar figure, I’m not sure there were a lot of people clamoring for him. One difference is this Danger Room version has the same hairpiece we saw in theTRUwave 9 Wolverine. The other difference is this one has yellow pants and blue boots. The rest of the figure, face/torso/arms/hands/belt, exact same in both versions; even the battle damage on the legs are the same. The tampo details are pretty good though, very detailed facial expression and lots of chest/arm hair to go around. I’m glad they stayed with the boot fronts which make him look less clunky than the full boots we’ve seen in older versions.
No accessories for Wolverine, so no normal hands are included. For customizers that need another hairy torso or arms, here you go.
In conclusion, it is what it is, another shirtless torn pants Wolverine.

Omega Red
Now this is an inspired choice! As far as what two figures to pair together, Wolverine and Omega Red is a great pairing. These two really had some epic battles in the comics, Omega Red being one of the cooler X-Men villains to come from the 90’s.
They did a great job translating Omega Red to minimate form. He has a new sculpted blonde hairpiece complete with long hair, big ponytail, red bandana with the omega symbol (can’t tell he’s the brainchild of the early 90’s can you). Also great detail on his face too, red angry eyes and mid-yell; he does always seem like he’s yelling in the comics too. He’s easily recognizable and looks like he jumped right off the comic page.
He has a new torso cover that has his big shoulder pads and detailed straps and belt along with chest detail too. Underneath he has a blank red torso and waist; they’ve also included a torso extender. Omega is tall in the comics (6′ 11″) and the extender really helps the figure look proportionate with his large torso cover.
His arms are simple white blanks and his legs are red with some black detail, but the gloves and boots really stand out. His feet have the boot fronts (not the full size boots) with the silver detail on the top. His gloves are a new sculpted piece too; really love how the omega symbol stands out on top. On the underneath of the gloves there’s a hole where his tentacles attach (boy that sounds dirty). What is really nice about this is since the gloves and tentacles are not all one piece, it allows you to position them all sorts of ways. I would really love to see some gloves with tentacles like these for the minimate Sentinels.
The tentacles are his accessories, one short one and one long curly one. Customizers have a lot to work with from this figure. Those gloves have tons of potential on their own.
In conclusion this is a great figure and a wonderful job translating him into minimate form. A great X-Men villain to add to your minimate ranks!
