The Redacted are coming! The Redacted are coming!!

By now most everyone on the planet has seen the Avengers movie and knows that the invading army is the Chitauri. And today you’re probably heading out to the store to pick up your copy of the movie on Blu-Ray and/or DVD. So in honor of the release let’s take a look the LCS exclusive set of Chitauri.

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows with the Avengers name/logo. The top has a group photo of the four super heroes. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.

The Figures

Chitauri General

Ok, so what makes him a general instead of regular foot soldier? Better armor and a more powerful gun, I guess.

So the general has a new sculpted gold helmet with a raised part in the back. Very intricate details for this helmet and I really like the purple on the side. Sadly underneath there’s just a blank minimate head. But this is not DST’s fault since they didn’t have the designs for the Chitauri’s face when they got the early movie designs. Luckily Luke comes to the rescue with some decals you can use instead.

The figure has a large torso cover with a lot of gold colored armor. Again great details and really like the raised neck collar of his armor and the purple sash to the back. Underneath he has a torso raiser for added height. The main torso is blank but some nice gold details on his arms and legs. There’s even details on the insides of the legs which we don’t see as often. The main complaint I have of this character is the duck feet, they just don’t look right on minimates.

For an accessory he comes with one of the Chitari gold/purple alien looking guns. Of the two guns included I like this bulkier gun better. Also included is a clear base stand that really helps keep him steady on his feet.

So while they did a good job on the figure overall a few tweeks (and omissions) could have helped him be a lot better.

MMC Score – 7 out of 10

Chitauri Footsoldier

Now for the grunts.

Pretty much the same as the generals with a couple differences. The footsoldier’s helmet doesn’t have the raised ridge in the back and the eyes are slit more horizontal than at an angle. And since they didn’t have the control art for the face, there’s just the blank headpiece underneath.

It has similar full torso to waist cover with less gold plated armor. The rest of the figures arms as far as I can tell are the same as before. Same for the legs minus a bit of detail on the upper thighs.

For accessories he comes with a long thin alien rifle. The included base stand really helps with holding this weapon.

So another decent figure to add to Loki’s army.
