A living legend and a demi-god are together in the next 2-pack for the Avengers movie minimates.
Packaging
The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows with the Avengers name/logo. The top has a group photo of the four super heroes. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.
The Figures
Captain America
Anyone that watched Captain America: The First Avenger got to see how Steve Rogers, a kid that was small in stature but had lots of courage, was transformed into the super soldier superhero. If you haven’t seen it then you need to. Seriously go now and watch, we’ll wait………
They really nailed this outfit. Starting with his helmet, everything lines up the way it should. The eyeholes match great for his eyes with even little contours around the bridge of his nose, very nice. He also comes with an extra hairpiece so you can get a look at Steve Rogers underneath. His expression is subdued, I would have liked to see a more determined or mid-battle yell look.
As I have said the outfit is superb. The red, white and blue colors stand out well and details are clearly visible all around the figure. Good looking belt cover too with silver highlights. Cap’s gloves are done in a dark red with a shield peg on his left one. Also nice boots, they’re not too bulky and too small, they just right and really help with balance.
Again there is a clear base stand included in the pack and of course he would be incomplete without his shield. This time around the colors are metallic and you’ll also notice the underneath shows the straps so it looks like he’s really holding the shield instead of just attached on. It’s a little detail but it adds so much to the overall look.
This has to be the best movie version of Captain America to date.
The last we saw of Thor he was stuck in Asgard with no way to get back to Earth. Just how did he get back for the Avengers? Hopefully the movie will clear that up.
Thor’s hair is a reuse of the one from Civilian Thor from the last movie wave. No extra helmet this time, perhaps he doesn’t wear it much in Avengers. Blank look on his face too. What’s up with the emotions, is everyone tired from their epic battles?
Thor: “Loki, I’m slightly perturbed by all your trickery, go stand in the corner for 5 mins.”
His costume design is similar to the last movie but a little less cape this time around. And I’m guessing to bulk up his shoulders a little he has a torso cover that down with the silver detail in the front (last time this was just painted on the torso) with some red fabric that goes around the back of his neck. No chainmail either just flesh colored arms and on his legs he has this blue blobs of color. Thor’s red gauntlets stand out with the metallic highlights.
And for an accessory he has his trusty hammer. For customizing there are a few good parts to work with; the gauntlets, short waist cover and base minimate pieces.
In conclusion this is not his best outing, but mix and match some of his parts with the previous movie version to get a better look.
