Rounding out the last of the TRU wave 11 sets we have two classic X-Men characters. One femme fatal in a retro outfit and another hero that was in need of a redo.

Packaging

The packaging is the old standard window box with control art below the windows. The sides have individual picture of the two figures. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.
The Figures
Betsy Braddock

Back again in some new threads, this is Betsy/Psylocke fourth minimate appearance (
second time named as Betsy Braddock). Now here’s a picture of the costume they’re recreating.
Now what’s different? The arms! The rest is spot on. Hair looks good, similar happy facial expression, bright purple eyes, good paint job/design for torso and legs. But the poofy arms are the reverse of how she looked in the comics. I’d expect for her to have some poofy cuffs with some skin showing on her shoulders.
The other bad part is her right arm socket doesn’t appear to fit snug on the peg.
Kang has the same sculpted arms but his fit correctly. I’ve seen several of the Betsy sets with this problem in stores and also looks like
Ivan had same issues with his.
Betsy doesn’t have any accessories. We don’t get many pink characters so she does make a good base for customizing other female characters.
In conclusion she is 2/3 perfect but the other 1/3 sticks out like a sore thumb.

Nightcrawler

.
Even though it’s a new figure variation the outfit is the same style. He has a new sculpted hairpiece with some curls in the front and tapering off to a point in the back along with blue pointy ears. His face is broader and more detailed with the same playful blue demon look.
This time instead of a torso cover he has red shoulder cuffs so he has the same pointed vest look but slimmer torso. Paint job is crisp with no bleeding and details stand out well against the dark colors. Similar three fingered white hands and two-toed feet as before. Nightcrawler has a clip that fits between his waist and torso for his signature blue tail.

And what teleporting mutant would be complete without his own purple bamf base. It’s the same one we’ve seen, just in different color, with Azazel (and Haggar’s dust cloud). He’s also a great character for customizing. His tail, hands, feet and even the shoulder cuffs make great fodder. Not to mention how perfect he is to quick change some parts with the Calico Jack figures to make a swashbuckling version of Nightcrawler!
He’s a well done classic X-Men character that looks just the way he should.
