The packaging is a very small semi-window box, it’s a lot smaller than the basic sets in waves 1 and 2. The Batman logo appears at the top left. The packaging is done in the normal C3 style, but interestingly, perhaps to highlight the Minimate more, they have added the Minimate head graphic style from the Marvel Minimates sets to the side of the box. I always liked this on the Marvel packaging, and likewise really like the use of it here. To the right, you can see the Minimate very clearly in the window portion of the box.

The C3 pieces are all bagged up in the main part of the box, and the Minimate is packaged in a tray on the right hand side. There is one twist-tie holding the figure in.

The back of the box shows the cross-sell of the other new C3 sets, and a “technical specification” type drawing to show off the set itself. My sets in the UK had a big sticker over the back, sadly although I was careful in trying to remove it, you can see that it ripped some of the print off the back.

Here we have the modern version of Batgirl. The original Batgirl was Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon’s daughter, who was crippled by the Joker and later became Oracle. The new Batgirl first appeared in the No Man’s Land comic arc, and is Cassandra Cain, daughter of elite mercenary assassin David Cain, trained to fight from a young age.

As with most revamps of popular characters, Batgirl is far darker and edgier than her earlier counterpart, and the costume reflects this. The cowl is a full mask, with the mouth opening having been stiched up, along with the eyeholes. Underneath, Cassie has the most adorable face, with huge brown eyes similar to the Magdalena, and full pouting lips. Overall the look is very anime style, and works well. There is a hole in the head, yet the mask doesn’t have a peg. Wha? Well, in a nice addition, Batgirl has a pegged hairpiece. Her hair is in a bun, and is very different to most of the other female hairpieces. A great job done on the face.

The costume is all black, with a yellow outlined Batsymbol and tactical belt. In a move mirroring some of the more recent examples of costumed female Minimates, there is some grey highlighting around the bust and sides to suggest a more womanly figure than the nature of the blocks will allow. She has a cape, which like most capes is removable so that she can sit in the Flyer without mishap.

Batgirl has no real accessories, but I think the hairpiece and the actual Flyer mean she’s not exactly empty handed here.

Overall, I think a lot of effort has gone into making this figure stand out, and that makes her well worth getting to add to your Batman allies roster.

The Batgirl Mini Flyer is pretty much identical to the Batman Mini Flyer. Not hugely surprising when you think that the Flyers are more of an afterthought to get the Minimates into the market, but still quite frustrating. Even if the shape of the wings were changed to better reflect the Batgirl symbol, that would have been something, but all they are is just a different colour, being black. The rest of the blocks are the exact same dark blue as the Batman Mini Flyer.

As with the Batman Mini Flyer and the other sets, there are few gimmicks to be found in the Mini Flyer design. An opening canopy and nicely designed cockpit area for the Batgirl Minimate is it. As with the Batman Mini Flyer, the back of the Batgirl Mini Flyer sports a yellow Batsymbol, this time the slightly elogated Batgirl version.

Overall, the Batgirl Mini Flyer suffers from being a straight re-do of the Batman Flyer. Not a huge problem, because the Minimate itself is so nice, but not an ideal way to sell people on the whole C3 concept.
