Toys R Us helps expand our Age of Apocalypse minimate figures with several exclusive sets for wave 10. First up we have AoA Sabretooth and Blink.
Age of Apocalypse is one of the better mid 90’s X-Men crossover storylines (until they decided to revisit it a decade later). For full details check out the info here; but in a nutshell Xavier’s son goes back in time to kill Magneto, Xavier ends up dying instead, Magneto forms the X-Men, Apocalypse comes and takes over the world …. until he gets defeated.

The Figures
Age of Apocalypse Sabretooth
Excellent job on the facial details and expression. It really nails the character; you got to love the sneer he has. Sabretooth has a new sculpted blonde hairpiece complete with muttonchops and ponytail! Also a good torso cover with sculpted collar. I like the paint job for the silver that shows on the collar, it has very little bleeding from other colors and lines up well. The rest of the torso, waist and legs are the same dark yellow blank.
He has hairy enough arms to give Wolverine a run for his money. Nice gauntlets too, I’m not sure if they are a new piece or a repaint of a previously release. His claws are more akin to the ones seen with Cheetah than those of other Sabretooth releases.
So for such a well-executed figure, what is missing ……. his accessory, Wildchild! I realize technically Wildchild is a character of his own, but he seems more of a pet to Sabretooth than anything else. I would have loved to see him as a miniature accessory crouched in a pounce stance complete with attached chain for Sabretooth to hold. It would have rounded out the entire team, instead it sort of feels like getting Shadowcat without Lockheed included.
For customizers there’s a lot to be gained from this figure. A great hairpiece with ponytail that could be modified for a variety of characters. Claw hands always make good fodder along with having close to a blank yellow figure to work with.
Aside from missing Wildchild, this is a great likeness of AoA Sabretooth and a well-executed figure.

Age of Apocalypse Blink
Blink didn’t get much time in the regular 616 universe before she got bumped off (another decent crossover storyline). She was brought back for the AoA universe and played a much bigger role, eventually crossing back over to become a main part of the Exiles.
Another great translation from comic to figure. The slight purple skin tone has been done well. While not having as much facial detail as Sabretooth, the pink marks and blank eyes make her easily recognizable. New sculpted hairpiece too with long strands hanging down the front. And because in AoA everyone has to have a studded collar, Blink has her purple and silver one with detachable quiver.
She has a very similar dress design to what we’ve seen on Raven, same dress extension just this time in green. Nice torso detail and I also like that on the sides you see where her dress tapers off for the open back. The paint apps are clean and crisp with no bleeding. She is showing some leg but in honor of Danny, I’ve checked and no she is not a party girl. She does have the one piece buccaneer green boots.
For accessories there’s the detachable quiver and also one pink crystal javelin for her to throw. Blink also has a cool teleportation base; same one released with Magik just pink this time. One drawback to her dress extension is it does get in the way of this base in the back. Her dress can bend so it’ll fit around high back of the base but it’s easier with it off.
There are lots of uses for customizers. There’s a great teleportation base for use along with that quiver that could be easily attached to other archers (I know they’re not arrows, but very similar looking). And her body would be a good base to create other characters in a dress.
In conclusion, Blink is another well done AoA character.
