Rounding out this wave of TRU exclusives we have another pack of AoA characters. So are they as good as the previous set? Read on to find out …

Packaging

The packaging is the standard window box with control art below the windows. The sides have individual picture of the two figures. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Age of Apocalypse Nemesis (aka Holocaust)

Nemesis is the son of Apocalypse and also one of his Four Horsemen. He was defeated and then Dark Beast created a crystalline exo-skeleton armor for him and he became known as Holocaust.

He has a very similar design to that of Hulkbuster Iron Man with the basic minimate covered with massive sculpted armor covers. His torso and head cover are all one big sculpted piece with bullet shaped head and huge shoulder pads. The design work is excellent (matches the character well) and I love the translucent yellow plastic used for him. There is a little bit of red showing on the armor but what is really neat is you can see Nemesis’s red skeleton body underneath. Great details on the main torso piece, and especially menacing looking skull.

He has thigh covers and huge boots and gantlets to add to his massive look.  His left hand/gantlet is a new sculpted piece with his spiked ball-organic-looking fist. The character’s design is very H.R. Geiger-esque and his translation to minimate form is excellent. The only negative for his design is he looks a bit squat; he really could have used a torso-riser. But this is easily fixed by raising the torso higher on the waist peg.

Nemesis has no accessories, but he doesn’t really need any. For customizers it’s great to have translucent pieces, especially ones that have skeletons already on them.

In conclusion, Nemesis is one of the best minimates we’ve seen so far and a must have to your AoA line-up.

MMC Score – 9.99 out of 10

Age of Apocalypse Morph

Finally rounding out AoA’s Astonishing X-Men team we have Morph. He’s pretty much the same costume and personality of his Exiles version.

Morph has a bright white head with his always present smile; even his eyes look like they’re smiling too. Nice details on a simple figure. The bright blue of his body really makes the chest and leg details stand out. Honestly I’m not a big fan of Morph as a character but this figure looks good. The yellow of his buccaneer boots and yellow painted hands contrast nicely to the blue of his body. His cape is a repaint of A0A Magneto’s, complete with studded collar.

There are no accessories for him but a simple brightly colored figure does make for great custom fodder.

There’s not much to Morph but he looks good.

MMC Score – 8 out of 10
