You know I couldn’t pass up getting another Ant Man for pictures. This LCS wave 44 also adds another fun army building figure too. Read on for reviews and of course more Ant Man pics!

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. Ant Man II has the word “Variant!” above his name. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.

The Figures

Ant Man II

Even though he bears the same name this is not Henry Pym’s Ant Man. Instead this is Scott Lang, former thief and electronics expert. He had stolen Pym’s technology to help save his daughter and seeing the good done, Lang was given his own Ant Man costume.

Lang has a wonderfully sculpted helmet. I love the design and the little red insect looking eyes are just perfect. He has decent facial details underneath but I have to be honest with you, that blank stare of his creeps me out (Scott, hello, are you there??; his helmet’s going to stay on permanently). Included is a red hairpiece for him. And it’s not often that the hairpiece ear color matches the headpiece so well but this one is spot on (helmet is still going to stay on).

The rest is a basic minimate body with red and black color details. But this figure is proof that a vanilla figure can be spectacular with sharp details. Part of the credit is due to how well the black and red stand out against each other but the paint apps are truly top notch. The lines are sharp with no bleeding and love the small details around his wrists and ankles. Simple but beautiful. The only thing I would have liked to see would be an extra pair of slipper feet to shorten him like Pym’s Ant Man.

No accessories included save for extra hairpiece. Parts for custom-wise you get a cool helmet and extra red hair. Also his body makes for a good base for red or black suited characters.

Overall I’m very impressed. I never really kept up with Ant Man in the comics but both Ant Man minimates are now the two figures that are always with me when I take minimate pictures.

Kree Sentry

The Kree Sentries help stand guard over military outposts throughout the Kree Empire. And they make for an impressive army builder figure.

First off you’ll notice the colors really pop for this figure. The bright metallic purple paint job reminds me of the MvC3 Sentinel. He has an interesting helmet with sculpted details all around. Underneath he has a highly detailed robotic face.

He has a powerhouse style torso cover with nice design on the front and back. Underneath is a blank torso with the same metallic purple color.  His arms and legs have a surprising amount of details all around. A torso riser gives him added height along with massive boots and gauntlets.

For accessories he comes with a clear takeoff flight base. The Sentry makes for good custom fodder too with all the large feet and hands.

In conclusion another impressive army builder to add to a long line of excellent minimate army builders.
