We’re back for another round of Know Your Foe. Today we’re taking another look at another well known Spidey foe and skilled hunter …. Kraven!
Kraven the Hunter first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #15 in 1964. His real name is Sergei Kravinoff and he’s the half-brother of another Spidey foe, the Chameleon. His powers come from a potion he takes regularly giving him superhuman strength and senses. Along with that he is a master hunter and tactician. He’s probably best associated with one of the top Spider-Man story-lines, Kraven’s Last Hunt.
He was released in minimate form in LCS Wave 24 paired with Back in Black Spider-Man (a rather fitting character/costume to pair with). He also has held up well over the years. I love how the details go all around the figure. And while I’m not a big fan of that particular powerhouse chest-piece sculpt, the lion face and mane detail on the front and back is excellently done. He also comes with two good accessories for his character; a large knife and rifle.
As good as he is, there is room for improvement. I would keep the base figure the exact same; same legs, torso and arms detail. I like his face but wouldn’t mind seeing a more maniacal look. The top item to update would be his torso cover. Instead of that full cover create a new piece with open chest area so you can see his torso underneath and have sculpted detail on the front and back for his lion.
His MMC score was a 9, I would drop that down to a 8 in hopes to get a new one with sculpted torso cover to move him back up to a 9 or possibly 10. Stay tuned for more Spidey Foes and check out Luke’s Toy Store to preorder your Deadly Foes of Spider-Man box set!
