SCSAIM00

Two armors in one pack, how awesome is that? With no shortage of armors to pick from in this movie, DST selected the Silver Centurion and Skeleton Armors for this TRU exclusive. Let’s see how high their scores can soar …

The box is the expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. On top is a picture of Iron Man with the Avengers Initiative logo in the middle. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave.  The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Silver Centurion Iron Man

SCSAIM05

The Silver Centurion is a popular armor in Iron Man’s history. We’ve already seen two figures based off the comic version in minimate form so far. I’ve already raved about how well the first version still looks compared to today’s figures. It’s exciting to see a movie representation of this armor.

His paint apps are done in a dull silver and rich red colors. I will advise you to check out your box when selecting this pack. I went through a couple sets to make sure I got one with a good paint job and the colors where they’re supposed to be; especially around the arc reactor. His helmet looks good, similar lines to what we’ve seen with the other movie helmets. Underneath is another Tony head (more teeth showing this time) and included is his hairpiece.

They’ve gone with the shorter torso cover, which I love, with tons of sculpted detail all around. This cover does have pointed shoulder pads which limit arm movement a bit.  With the cover on you can see the torso detail underneath and you would expect it to continue to show the underarmor if you took it off, right? But you’re wrong! Both on the front and back the detail lines stop where the cover starts. Sad Panda!

Iron Man’s upper arms and legs have nice sculpted details. His boots and gauntlets look equally impressive. Like the rest of the packs each figure comes with a clear base stand. Obviously any Iron Man parts are great for reusing to quick custom or customize another type of armor.

In conclusion he’s not perfect (having full torso details would have added more points) but he still makes a good addition to your hall of armors!

Skeleton Armor Iron Man

SCSAIM12

This is a straight up repaint of the Mark V version from Iron Man 2 with one big difference; well besides his face and hair. Can you guess what the difference is?

Again you will want to double check your pack for good paint apps on this one, especially around the arc reactor. He has a black base with yellow cream colored details. This is a well done color scheme and the highlights on his arms, legs and torso really stand out. I especially like the lines on his faceplate. Tony’s face is underneath, no teeth this time, and he comes with another hairpiece. Great reuse of excellent sculpted pieces: torso cover, boots, belt and gauntlets.

Now the difference. Surely you would think since it’s just a repaint they’d use the same full torso print as the IM2 figure. You can even see the same details up to the torso cover. They wouldn’t shortchange us again in the same two pack, right … right? Nope, double sad panda! The detail lines stop at the cover again.

Another clear base stand is included and same parts make for great custom fodder too.

I really like this armor but hate not having the full underamor detail. I’m not sure why they were left off. I’m going to go with DST wasn’t sure how his arc reactor would look underneath with the designs they were provided for this film. Yeah, I’ll go with that explanation … but I’m still sad!
