Next up we have two armored warriors ready for battle; one with the latest technology and one with old school weaponry. Which hero has the edge in battle? Find out after the jump …
We’ve seen a lot of Iron Man minimates and even though they’re variations of the same character, I’m impressed by how much fun it is to collect each one for a hall of armors.
The figure itself is a repaint and reuse of previous Iron Man suits, to great results. As you’ve heard me rave before I love the hot rod red and gold used on Iron Man. The helmet is the same from Neo-Classic Iron Man with a few detail lines on the face. I do like the white eyes a lot better as it gives the powered on look for the suit. Underneath you have Tony’s face still with some of the armor around his head; similar to the comic Mark III Armor version but much better executed. So no hair piece is needed.
The torso cover is the one we saw on Iron Patriot. It give a more muscular look to the armor. Underneath you see detail for the armor along with his arc reactor. I’m a little surprised that it’s in a red color instead of adding white/blue to show that it’s on (like the eyes show they’re on). Again the red/gold color on the rest of the arms/legs looks great. His gauntlets/boots are repaints of same ones from Iron Patriot. There’s also another set of gauntlets (same ones used in some of the movie version armors) with the extended fingers and guns.
Now the icing on the cake! If you’ve played the Marvel vs Capcom games you’ve probably seen Iron Man’s special move where he whips out this huge proton cannon and blasts a path through the entire screen. Well guess what …. they’ve included that cannon!! This has got to be one of my all-time favorite accessories. This thing is so massive they’ve included a clear flight stand that fits in a hole on the bottom so you don’t have to worry about Iron Man falling over from holding it. You got to love the details on the cannon; it really looks like the one from the game. The only downside is you’ll notice the handle on the bottom in the middle of the cannon; in the game he holds it on his shoulder but due to the size/weight it’s not easy for him to hold it like this and still stand upright. The flight stand is a bit too short to allow it to be shoulder height but honestly it looks just as cool with Iron Man standing/holding it from the back. Also in this set like all the MvC3 sets is a clear flat base stand that either character could use.
In conclusion Iron Man is still rockin!

Arthur is easily my favorite so far in the MvC3 series. I only wish this line would continue to enough waves so we could get a Firebrand for him to battle against.
