Next up for the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 series, two metal masters do battle in another TRU exclusive. So which one will blast ahead? Read on to find out …

Packaging

The box is the new expanded window box so you can see both characters along with the accessories in the middle. The character names and control art bust shots are below the windows. The sides have individual control art of each character. On the back are the mini-bios of each character along with group picture of all figures in this wave. The top shows a cool piece of art of Wolverine and Ryu up close in battle. The silver “TRU exclusive” foil mark is also on the front.

The Figures

Magneto

Magneto has been released several times in minimate form but this has to be one of his best representations.

He has the same helmet that we have seen since AoA Magneto which has been the best design. He also has the same extra white hairpiece used for Dark Magneto. He has a great expression with lots of details, showing off his gritted teeth and steely look. The colors are great; this version has a darker purple and softer red that really match the comics and video game. Personally I like the hot-rod red but fully acknowledge that these colors are the best comic version we’ve had to date.

His cape is the same one used from Dark Magneto but the darker purple along with the dark red underlining really makes this one stand out. Magneto’s torso has some muted chest detail and this time his arms/legs have the details on them instead of extra pieces for gloves/boots.

Along with the one clear base stand that is included in this pack (great addition to all the MvC packs!), Magneto comes with a clear flight stand and two translucent purple hand blasts.  These are great accessories for him to use or to use for other characters.

If you like Magneto or you’re a X-Men fan or need one to add to your collection or have others but want the best version or just like a darn good minimate figure then this Magneto is a must have.

Zero

Poor Zero, he started out teaming up with Mega Man in the video game Mega Man X and went on to star in his own series (Mega Man Zero), but he has always been in the shadow of classic Mega Man. Now with Marvel vs Capcom 3, Zero gets to step out of that shadow and take over fighting duties.

I must say I am impressed with his translation to minimate form. There was an alt blue costume version released earlier in a SDCC TRU 4 pack (yep, he’s still in that classic Mega Man shadow).

His helmet is a new sculpted piece and they really nailed the features from the game: the high pointed red ridges in the back, the blue diamond on his forehead and the V cutout for his face.  Also they did a great job on the exaggerated large eyes and simple mouth. Thankfully (for head movement and for customizing) his long blonde hair is not attached to his helmet but rather his torso cover. And as you would expect his torso cover looks just like it does in the games. The squared shoulder pads look great and the openings on the side still allow for vertical movement of his arms. Underneath he is mainly a black blank with some white with details on his waist.

Zero has the signature Mega Man hand cannon and OMG is it a beauty. It should be a great start for anyone looking to customize a classic Mega Man or other characters from the series. His left hand is another sculpted glove piece. His boots are also the signature robot feet from the series, another great job with design and sculpt. Also the wide base of his boots allows the figure to stand without tipping over from the extended hair.

Zero comes with his green energy sword. There are a few differences between this version and the blue alt costume (besides the color). Blue’s hand cannon is at half power as opposed to Red’s full power (red bars). Also Red has the sculpted pointed knees and the earpieces are extended out too.

In conclusion, Zero is anything but a zero. He’s a very well translated minimate figure and one heck of a great start to any robot custom ideas you may have.
